چکیده

Titanium has an osseointegrative property, while hydroxyapatite has an osteoconductive property. It remains a matter of controversy among researchers whether hydroxyapatite has higher osteoblast compatibility than titanium. Here, we compared the activities between osteoblasts cultured on titanium and those cultured on hydroxyapatite. An osteoblast-like cell line, MC3T3-E1, was cultured on machined titanium, evaporated titanium, and hydroxyapatite disks to compare the affinity of osteoblasts to each of these materials. The adhesion and proliferation of MC3T3-E1 cells were higher on hydroxyapatite disks than on the other disks. Osteoblast differentiation was not affected by the nature of disks investigated, but calcium was more easily deposited on the hydroxyapatite disks. The amount of absorbed serum proteins detected on hydroxyapatite was greater than that on titanium. In conclusion, our results indicate hydroxyapatite is a more suitable material for osteoblast growth than titanium because of its higher absorption of serum proteins.

The effect of resistance training and date pollen extract on bone tissue density and osteoblast cell proliferation in young male rats

Extended Abstract 1.Introduction One of the tissues that is affected by physical activity is bone. Bone is one of the tissues that needs to receive mechanical load to have normal function as a key factor in strengthening bone mass (2). Evidence shows that the mechanical load resulting from physical activity activates a set of proteins involved in the process of osteoblast activation and inhib...

Induction of Mineralized Nodule Formation in Rat Bone Marrow Stromal Cell Cultures by Silk Fibroin

Background: Silk fibroin is a suitable protein for osteogenesis by inducing markers of bone formation in the cultures of osteoblasts, so we examined the ability of this protein to induce mineralized nodules in the rat bone marrow stromal cell cultures. Methods: Bone marrow stromal cells obtained from 4 to 6 weeks old Spruge-Dawely male rats were grown in primary culture for seven days and then ...

The Effects of Iron Oxide Nanoparticle on Differentiation of Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells to Osteoblast

Introduction: IIron oxide nanoparticles (IO NP) have an increasing number of biomedical applications. To date, the potential cytotoxicity of these particles remains an issue of debate. Little is known about the cellular interaction or toxic effects of IO NP on differentiation of stem cells. The aim of the present study was to investigate the possible toxic role of different doses of IO NP in di...

Biphasic Response to Luteolin in MG-63 Osteoblast-Like Cells under High Glucose‑Induced Oxidative Stress

Background: Clinical evidence indicates the diabetes-induced impairment of osteogenesis caused by a decrease in osteoblast activity. Flavonoids can increase the differentiation and mineralization of osteoblasts in a high-glucose state. However, some flavonoids such as luteolin may have the potential to induce cytotoxicity in osteoblast-like cells. This study was performed to investigate whether...

Background: Microwave Thermotherapy has been gradually used in radiotherapy and it is reported that microwave radiation increases bone demineralization rate independently of temperature. Furthermore, it becomes more and more widespread that the damage caused by the synergistic effect of microwave radiation and hypergravity. The experiment was designed to investigate the effect of microwa...
